Sand Dunes - Arid Desert - Colour Digital Wilderness Landscapes

Digital images from sand dune country on a wilderness photography trip in the outback arid region of South Australia

Red sand contrasted with blue sky and sometimes dramatic clouds make for landscapes, demanding of the photographer's attention. The forms of twisted and gnarled trees, both dead and alive, provide strong lines as the mainstay of many an image.

In this area the sand dunes are fairly stable with small trees and other low vegetation surviving on their nourishment and holding them together.

The sand dunes run more or less parallel, sometimes converging, sometimes branching, and mostly with a corridore of claypan or flat sandy country in between.
