Brock and Zac update – 26 Apr 08
I forgot to mention in the last update, that on the 16th of Apr the boys were 3 months old. The time has gone so quickly and it really is all a blur. I’m really going to have to start keeping a diary of all the things that happen and the things that are changing. One of the things that has changed is there size. Brock is now 4.39 kg (9 lbs some ounces) and Zac is 4.17 kg (9lbs some ounces too). That is a 220g difference and it is quite noticeable when you look at them and when you are holding them to feed. Have a look at the difference in the size between this photo (taken today 26 Apr while Rusty was visiting ) and this one of them taken in the hospital on 6 Feb. They are not the easiest ones to make a comparison with but you can kind of see the difference.
I hadn’t heard anything from the hospital regarding Brock’s surgery, so on Monday I rang to find out what was going on. Brock seemed to be getting a bit more unsettled and constipated so I want to get this sorted sooner rather than later to get him all healthy again. I was told that he was booked in for surgery on 1 May but as yet have received nothing in writing. I will ring again on Monday to confirm this and to get the details on when to drop him off and when to fast him from. It’s a bit slack that they don’t give you much notice! It’s a minor annoyance to me anyway.
I went to my first morning tea with other mums of multiples on Wednesday morning. It was nice to not walk in with two babies and be the local circus attraction. All the other kids there were a bit older (the youngest were about 2 and a half) so everybody was excited to see babies but that was all. I must admit that you get a bit sick of going to the shops, or anywhere really, and everybody has a look in the pram and wants to chat about twins, or make some comment. It makes for a slow trip through the shopping centre. But back to the morning tea, it was nice to hear and see that it does get better and you can survive the whole baby stage. A mum of triplets (20 months old) was going to be there but the kids were sick so she was unable to make it. I will be going back for the next one in 3 weeks.
The boys seem to be getting into a bit of a routine with the night sleeps. They have a 5 – 6 hour sleep first up when they go to bed after there 8pm’ish feed and then a couple of 4 hour sleeps so I am managing to get a bit more sleep at night. They also seem to be cutting down, slowly, on the amount of milk they have at that first early morning feed so we might see them cutting the feed out entirely sometime soon. That sometime soon might not be for another 3 months but it gives me some hope.
The boys also had there first visit to church today. I had to get a photo of this momentous occasion.

That’s about it for now. Next update will hopefully be after Brock’s surgery so catch you all again then.
