House update – 23 May 08

The house has come along great guns. The plaster set has been finished (that is a layer of plaster over the cement render that covers the internal bricks). So the interior undertook another massive transformation from a dark render to a white plaster finish – giving another whole perspective.

It is now at lock up, as of Tuesday, and we can no longer access it to check on the progress. Fortunately we can still see through the windows but we probably won’t have a lot of photos from now until we get to handover.

So, just to get you buy, here are a whole lot of photos of the interior with the plaster on the all the walls and the internal door from the garage to inside. In the photo of the kitchen the parts that have the render exposed still are where the cabinets etc go.

Dale drove past on Wednesday and was blown away to see that the cabinet makers were there already and had installed the kitchen (less electrical appliances) as well as the cabinetry in both of the bathrooms – it looks fantastic – unfortunately Dale didn’t have the camera with him and since then we have not been able to catch any other contractor there to be able to get in and take some photo’s. The baths and tiles for the bathrooms and kitchen have been delivered in the last couple of days, so we expect a pretty big week next week. We got a call yesterday saying that the tiles we had picked for the 2nd bathroom were no longer made and so we had to go and pick some more. Luckily the new ones we picked were in stock and they were all delivered today.

It all seems to be coming along really well and we are still hoping that it will be finished by the end of June with handover in mid July.

We are so impressed with the great job that our site manager Graeme is doing project managing all of the jobs to happen one after each other. There has been minimal down time where there hasn’t been something happening or being delivered.

Lock up does mean that we received the latest progress payment invoice – BUGGA !! We really hope that interest rates don’t continue to go up much more :-(

Enjoy the photos and catch you again soon.
