House Update - 5 July 2008
Hi All,
Well its been another good week for progress on the house. The painter was in for most of the week and finished the painting inside and out. It’s amazing how the final coat of paint on things like the down pipes and eave’s really makes the place look nearly finished.
Since the last update a contractor came in and did the rendering under the front windows. We were a bit iffy about the rendering and at one stage tossed around the idea of not getting it done - but it’s done now and it’s been painted and looks pretty good.
The really big thing that has made the most difference to the look of the house is that the paving has now been done. This includes the double driveway, path, alfresco and under the front verandah. Grant from down the road, who built our large planter box out the back, is going to build the letter box this week.
Dale spent most of today at the house cleaning the block up and taking all of the rubbish to the tip and moving the left over pavers to the back of the house. He’ll be there again tomorrow to move the excess soil from the front yard to the back yard and into the planter box.
The really big news is that we have been given a practical completion date now which has been booked on for 0900 Thursday 17 July. The builders then have 10 working days to fix any defects that are found and then it is handover. So we have worked out a program of things that need to happen leading up to moving in:
17 July - Practical Completion Inspection & Final Measure for Blinds
1 August - Handover
4 August - Blinds Installed
5 August - Airconditioning Installed
6 - 12 August - Painting
6 -12 August - Install security Doors / TV Antenna / Telstra
13-15 August - Installation of Carpet and Wood Floors
16 August - MOVE IN !!!!!!
We can’t wait to get into the new place. Dale’s Dad and brother, Chris, are flying in from Tassie on 4 August to help with the painting (Thank you so much Guys !!) - Enid’s best friend Robyn is also flying in from Sydney at the same time, so we’ll definitely have a house full at the rental which is pretty small - but we’ll manage - and we’ll really appreciate the help.
Anyway, enjoy the photo’s and wish us luck that everything goes to plan …..
Cheers D&E (and the boys)
