House update – 7 May 08
Hi all, in the past two weeks an amazing amount of work has taken place on the house and it has transformed into a proper looking house.There was one day last week where our site manager Graeme arranged and coordinated three lots of contractors on site on the same day – the plasterer finishing off the cement render float – the other plasterer’s putting up the ceilings and the glaziers putting in all of the windows and the glass in the sliding doors and front doors !!!!! I pulled up after work to have a look at what work had been done that day and was blown away with how much had been done in just one day.I have to say that it was a brilliant piece of project management by Graeme.
Since then all of the ceilings are up and the cornices are finished as well. The next step is the plasterer coming back to do the plaster float over the cement render – then we’ll be at lock up.
We have started to arrange some other things as well now. We have about a dozen Requests for Quote out with air conditioner suppliers for the ducted revers cycle (trust us – it is something that you can’t do without in WA).
A friend gave us the name of a good plumber and we have arranged to have the soak wells installed in the front and back yards and we’ve arranged for one of our neighbours (who also happens to be our land lord at the moment) who is a brickie to do some brick work in the back yard for us next week – the good thing is that we’ll be usung bricks and cement left over from the house build and even the sand left over from the cement render float – GOOD VALUE !! Hey, at the end of the day we’ve paid for it all.
So, the house is really coming along in leaps and bounds and we could not be happier. We are just hoping that everything does not come to a screaming stop now and we are still looking at a practical completion date at the end of June.
