House – what’s been going on???
Well, funny you should ask. Lots has been happening.
We’ve got our plants back from Mark and Leonie. Leonie looked after all the plants we wanted to keep from the old house and has done a fantabulous job. They have all come back looking a lot healthier and bigger than when they went there. Dale’s and Mark did a wonderful job too of putting them back around the patio. The patio now looks like people live here rather than just the empty space it was. Have a look.
I’ve also planted some corn and potatoes and some carrots. I also transplanted the broccoli and cauliflower seedlings. As you can see from the photo, the corn is doing really well (the rest of the green stuff is the straw growing). The carrots, broccoli and cauliflower haven’t done so well and I will have to try again.
The pumpkins and tomatoes are doing very well. The pumpkin plants wilt each afternoon in the sun and the heat but they come good every evening.
We’ve also done a bit of work out the front of the house. We’ve mulched it all again with some nice coarse mulch. We’ve also put in another Australian Grass Tree as the other two don’t seem to have coped with the third transplant in 18 months. The plants are starting to grow and some are flowering and it’s starting to look like we’ve lived here for a little while.
The good news is that our chooks are laying now. We get 3 eggs most days, sometimes only 2 but that’s ok. They seem to have adjusted to there new house and are coping with Molli running down to check up on them everytime anyone of us goes outside.
So that’s it for now on the house. We are still unpacking stuff from the shed but wil get there one day. It won’t happen overnight but it will happen.
Bye for now
