Twin update – 2 Dec 07

I’ve been a bit remiss in not updating you all on the twin progress. 

We had our scan and first ante natal clinic appointment on Wed 21 Nov.  The twins are both going really well.  One is wieghing approx 532 grams and the other approx 507 grams.  This is actually big for twins at this stage of the pregnancy.  The two amniotic sacs contained an evenish amount of fluid and there were no signs of Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome.  This is a risk that we face as both the twins are using the same placenta.  The symptoms include uneven growth and uneven amounts of amniotic fluid.  It can cause some rather major problems so it’s a relief that they are both doing ok.  The specialist was happy so we are happy.

We then went down to the ante natal clinic for our first appointment there.  We saw the midwife first and found out about the birthing classes and I got a lecture about pregnancy exercise.  Apparently I should be doing 30 mins a day so will have to get into that at some point. 

Next on the appointment treadmill was the doctor at the clinic.  He was great.  He answered all our questions and was really nice.  One thing he did find though was that my blood pressure was up a little.  As a result I have to see the obstetrician again on 5 Dec and we will go back for another scan and clinic appointment on 19 Dec. 

My feet were quite swollen and sore but as I have been off work all this week they seem to have gone down.  Yeah, I picked up a head cold and it really knocked me for six.  It’s a real pain when you can’t take anything stronger than panadol to get you through. 

Big news, the twins are moving and I can feel them.  Dale has also been able to feel them moving a couple of times and I have also started seeing my tummy have odd contortions when they make a really big move. 

A couple of friends threw a baby shower for me last Sunday (25 Nov).  It was great.  We got some great presents for the bubs’s and also a few things for me too.  So a big thank you to Deb and Carolyn for organising and everybody that came along and gave us gifts.  It is all very much appreciated.
