Week 3 – Bega
Today was our last full day in Bega. We had another lovely sleep in this morning with Dale not getting up til 1100. And we weren’t even that late to bed. We weren’t sure what the weather was going to be like after last night but when we did eventually get up it was blue sky and sunny. A great day for a scenic drive.
So off we went for our drive. The area is very green at the moment. It wasn’t only the 55 mm that we got last night but there have been some good rains for the last month or so. We went up to the Heritage Triangle, ie Cobargo, Tilba Tilba and Bermagui. The waves at Bermagui and all down the coast were quite big as a result of the huge low pressure system that blew through last night. We bought a sculpture from Cobargo for the new house.

After Bermagui we went down the coast road (which is now all sealed not like when I was growing up) to Araganu. I was a bit worried about the condition of the road but they have done a lot of work on it and it wasn’t too bad. It’s very different from how I remember it and I was somewhat disappointed. The beach is still there but they have fenced off a lot of the areas that we used to camp in. I know that it’s to protect the environment but it does change the atmosphere a lot.

Next stop was Tathra Wharf. With the sun setting and the big waves it was quite a scenic spot. We took a few photos with Lion here for you all to enjoy.

All in all another enjoyable day.
Tomorrow we drive up to Cooma to see my brother and sister in law and the rest of the family. Mum and dad are going to join us all for a bit of a family dinner tomorrow night.
After that is Canberra then Sydney on Saturday afternoon so a few busy driving days ahead of us.
Ciao for now.
