Kayak

Kayak on Bega River

Not only is a kayak a great fitness machine but it gets me around the flat water rivers and lakes to enjoy and photograph their unique landscape, near on impossible otherwise.

Quadbike

Hut overlooking Lake Eucumbene

On Foot

Beach near Point Hicks

With a pack on my back, it's often not necessary to cover a great distance to capture the wilderness landscape. Anything from a few hundred metres to 15km can make a great day out in an isolated environment.

Camping at Lake Richardson on Arcoona Station in outback South Australia, not all that far from Woomera, I was up and going before daylight to photograph the salt lake in the flattering morning light as dawn broke and the sun rose.

Despite the commitment of many digital photographers to Adobe Photoshop, these images have been post processed in Irfanview, a basic image viewer with good image manipulation plugins.

In Irfanview, it's possible to select a limited area of the image and stretch the values over the whole image according to the pixel values within the selected area. That's what I've done here.
