Riding in the Bunga State Forrest I came upon a sheltered gully with a waterhole, just near the track at a creek crossing. The secluded environment made for an attractive light under which the fallen timber, water, rocks, plants and reflections of the bush waterhole took on a great appearance.
Lake Torrens is among the largest of Australia's salt lakes at around 40 kilometres wide and 240 kiletres long. For the most part, Lake Torrens is a salt encrusted, impenetrable, muddy desert.
Leaving the ute at Frying Pan, the ride to the vicinity of Seven Gates Road, between Cooma and Adaminaby was hard but enjoyable with the rising of the lake due to the melting snow on the Snowy Mountains.
