Campfire at Yankie’s Creek
Blazing campfire at Yankie’s Creek.
G’day.
It was coming on dark, so I got a small campfire blazing in just the right spot so I could rest my weary legs and aging back on a log with a convenient branch.
This campfire cost me! It was a mistake that someone of my camping and outdoor experience shouldn’t have made.
Dragging some dry timber across the forrest floor, I held it against my belly. Suddenly a startling sting under my shirt and them another on the hand. Several large ants had me and took a bit of shaking off.
They weren’t bull ants, but packed quite a sting all the same. In the morning my hand was quite swollen, but I survived to tell the tale.
