Close-up Sand Dunes - Andamooka 01
G’day.
My view of the sand dunes or sand ridges of the South Australian outback has more to do with the detail than the overall landscape.
The sticks, shrubs and grasses, stumps, grains of sand, wind waves and other intriguing shapes. Then there are the colours and textures. All these and more go together to compose my view of the outback, in particular the sand ridges of the red sand dune country.
The digital images below come from Andamooka Station and were taken soon after sunrise one fine morning in early spring.
I had camped in the old stockmen’s hut at Wirrda Wells and got on my bike (ATV, quadbike) as the morning dawned. Following a track, north, straight over the east/west parrallel sand ridges, I soon came to a promising sand ridge with bare sand in large areas.
So as the shadows from the nearby horizon gave way to full sunlight I captured these images.

Beautiful!
